NEW DELHI: In a considerable escalation of stress with China, the federal government late Friday altered guidelines to make it possible for curbs on bidders from nations that share a land border with India “on the premises of defence and nationwide security”.
Though the order does not call any country– as in the case of the April 17 order that obstructed FDI through the automated route from the same set of neighbours– it is clearly targeted at scrutinising and enforcing curbs on Chinese investments and collaborations in Indian tasks.
