Congress has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which includes candidates for nine assembly constituencies including Tral, Anantnag and Doda regions.
Congress has formed an alliance with National Conference for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The first list has been released after a meeting at Farooq Abdullah’s house. Both the parties finalized the alliance with seat sharing on Monday and only then the list of names has been released.

Congress will contest on 32 seats, NC on 51 seats
Under the agreement, out of the 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference will contest 51 seats, while the Congress will contest 32 seats, and the CPI(M) and the J&K Panthers Party have been given one seat each. However, in five assembly constituencies – Sopore, Banihal, Bhaderwah, Doda and Nagrota – both the parties have decided to have a friendly fight. For example, both the parties will field their own candidates here.
Congress will contest on five seats in the first phase
In the first phase of elections to be held on September 18, covering 24 seats, the National Conference will contest 12 seats in the Valley and six in the Jammu region, while the Congress will contest three seats in the Valley and two in the Jammu region.

National Conference fielded 18 candidates
The National Conference (NC) also released its first list of 18 candidates on Monday after the talks were finalised. Farooq Abdullah finalised the candidates and the list of candidates has been shared on X.
