During this, some councilors called Anil Masih a vote thief while Masih came to the well and said that Rahul Gandhi is also out on bail. Let us tell you that in January this year, BJP’s Manoj Sonkar got 16 votes in the Chandigarh Mayor’s election. Kuldeep Kumar, the joint candidate of Aam Aadmi Party and Congress, got 12 votes. Eight votes were declared illegal by Returning Officer Anil Masih.
After this election, Congress and AAP approached the Supreme Court. The bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had made sharp remarks on Anil Masih during the hearing on February 5. The Supreme Court had termed what happened during the Chandigarh Mayor elections as ‘murder’ of democracy and a ‘mockery’. The court had also issued a contempt notice to Anil Masih. Anil Masih had admitted in the court that he had made a cross mark on the ballot paper.
