‘I have brought money by selling ration’, video of accountant taking bribe on last day of job goes viral

A video of an accountant taking bribe in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh is going viral. It is being told that the day the accountant took the bribe amount in his hands was the last day of his job. On the last day of his job, he was caught on camera taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 inside the accountant’s office. The person giving the money kept saying that he had brought the money by selling ration and had managed it with great difficulty, but the accountant kept the money with a crooked smile. Congress has targeted the UP government in this matter.

Actually, the whole matter is of Farenda tehsil of Maharajganj, where the posted accountant was taking bribe on the last day of his service. UP Congress has cornered the state government by making Lekhpal’s video an issue. While posting this video on X, Congress wrote-
‘This is a lekhpal sahib from Maharajganj, see how he is taking bribe with impunity. It does not matter to them whether the man is bringing money to give them Dakshina by selling grains or by selling fields. They are only concerned with warming their pockets. However, it cannot be ruled out that along with them, some senior officials will also have a role in this. But, how long will the system continue considering corruption as virtue? Will there ever be improvement as long as Baba’s rule continues?

Let us tell you that Rajan Chaurasia, a resident of Brijmanganj, had applied in Farenda tehsil for making a status certificate one and a half years ago. When his file reached Halka Lekhpal, he started demanding money for filing the report. Rajan kept making rounds of the tehsil but his status certificate could not be made.

Rajan told that I gave money to the accountant several times in small amounts on his demand. But meanwhile he demanded another five thousand rupees. 15 days ago I had reached the tehsil with one of my friends and handed over Rs 2900 to Halka Lekhpal. During this time, Rajan’s associate secretly made a video. Which is now going viral on social media. However, the accused accountant has retired on 30th November itself.

The victim told that he had been running for a year to get the status certificate made. We were being run by accountant Ashok Mishra. He kept saying that he will not do your work until you give him the money. Always kept insisting that the file has gone here, it has gone there. Sometimes he asked for Rs 10 thousand and sometimes Rs 5 thousand. In the end he took three thousand rupees and also took one of his friends along with him, who made a video. After 15 days, when we got the status certificate in our hands, this video went viral.
