Vizag plant produces stuff used to make disposable plastic cutlery

LG Polymers India is a subsidiary of leading South Korean chemical firm LG Chem that had entered India in 1997 through the acquisition of a local company. Its Vizag plant manufactures polystyrene (PS) that finds wide utility in the food-service industry as rigid trays and containers, disposable utensils, and foamed cups, plates and bowls. (PTI)

Situation under control: AP govt

The Andhra Pradesh government has said that the situation is under control after the gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam. A press release from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said the official machinery swung into action immediately after the incident and evacuated people from the area after rushing those who fell ill to nearby hospitals where they are being treated for respiratory and other ailments. (ANI)

Gujarat govt to send chemical used as neutraliser

A specialised chemical called PTBC, made only in Vapi town of Gujarat, will be sent to Visakhapatnam on an urgent basis to help in neutralising the effects of gas leak at a polymer plant, a Gujarat government official said on Thursday.
