Shug initially got away on 28 April after her owner visited Interstate 90 in the North Bend location to apparently repair an issue with a trailer bring the zebra and 3 of her brethren. According to regional news outlets, the owner purchased the zebras from Winlock, Washington, and was carrying them to her petting zoo in Anaconda, Montana.
While the owner tried to protect the trailer, all 4 zebras left. 3 zebras were gathered within a couple of hours and continued their journey to Anaconda. Shug, however, stayed evasive and was sometimes found by regional homeowners around the location.
Indications consisting of “South Fork is Team Zebra! Call 911 if you see [her]” and “Zebra crossing” were established by regional citizens. Patrick Murphy, a North Bend local who was on a run in the woods when he found Shug, informed KOMO: “It’s sort of like the regional Bigfoot now. I hope they capture [her] You understand, the zebra may live in the hills permanently, in our hearts. I jokingly stated, ‘You do not discover the zebra. The zebra discovers you.'”
In its declaration, Rasckc revealed that personal civilians and animal control officers eventually made the rescue on Friday night, including that Shug seemed in excellent condition.
“Raskc wishes to thank its partners, consisting of the King county constable’s workplace, King county parks, the Washington state patrol, the city of North Bend, and the various citizens of the location who helped in this effective result,” the declaration stated. “Raskc anticipates to launch extra information about the zebra’s rescue quickly.”
