Atlanta Mayor States Guv ‘Completely Unreasonable,’ Pledges To Combat Mask Lawsuit

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Monday that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was trying to silence her in the middle of rising rates of the coronavirus in the state, pledging to fight his efforts to reverse a mask required in her city “with whatever we have.”

” He certainly wishes to silence my voice,” Bottoms informed MSNBC’s Joy Reid throughout the debut of her brand-new program, “The ReidOut.”

” In a time when we are in the middle of a pandemic, we require as numerous voices as we can have as possible sounding the alarm, motivating people to wear masks, and to take all precautions, and to follow the science and the information,” she said.

” It is totally unreasonable the course that this governor has put us on,” she added.

The remarks come amidst an ongoing fight in the state in between Bottoms, a Democrat, and the Republican governor. Kemp took legal action against the mayor and other city council members recently over their efforts to need face masks in public places, stating the guidelines were more stringent than those he set out statewide and might not be enforced.
