California County Health Officer States State Is Reopening Too Soon

The general public health officer in one of California‘s biggest counties cautioned today that the state was unwinding reopening guidelines too rapidly, increasing the threat of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Santa Clara Public Health Officer Dr. Sara Cody, whose county is house to Silicon Valley and was one of the very first in the nation to set up a shelter-in-place order, voiced her concerns at a county Board of Supervisors conference on Tuesday after California Gov. Gavin Newsom(D) revealed that counties might allow demonstrations and reopen locations of praise, in-person retail and beauty parlor, with some capability restrictions. Hairdresser reopenings are restricted to 47 and the state’s 58 counties.
