Cops Detain Los Angeles Protesters At Jackie Robinson Arena

UCLA and its faculty expressed outrage Tuesday that Los Angeles cops detained people apprehended during protests versus George Floyd‘s death at the university’s Jackie Robinson Stadium, named for Major League Baseball’s first Black gamer and a school alum.

” Last evening, UCLA students were detained for taking part in the constitutionally secured right to quietly protest against racial injustice, which is prevalent in American policing,” read a letter posted by UCLA metropolitan preparation professor, Ananya Roy, which she signed with more than a dozen other faculty members. “They were apprehended and processed at a stadium by themselves campus named after Jackie Robinson, an icon of the long and unfinished battle for Black freedom.”
