In addition to anticipating the launch of new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with scissor keyboards in the 2nd quarter of 2020, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple has larger ambitions for its note pad lineup.
In a research note today, acquired by MacRumors, Kuo said Apple plans to introduce MacBook models with its own custom-made processors in the 4th quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of2021 Kuo did not indicate whether these will be MacBook Pro or MacBook Air models, or both, nor did he share any additional details.
Reports have recommended that Apple is dealing with custom-made Arm-based processors that would permit it to shift away from its present MacBook processor supplier Intel, which has periodically knowledgeable hold-ups with its chips.
Kuo also believes that Apple will present MacBook models with a brand new design in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2021, however again, he did not suggest whether these will be Pro or Air models. The last considerable redesign of the MacBook Pro took place in October 2016, while the MacBook Air got a significant redesign in October 2018.
