“Against the Tide” by Sarvnik Kaur, “Bahadur – The Brave” by Diwa Shah and filmmaker Kanu Behl’s “Agra” got leading honours at the closing event of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival here. The 10-day movie gala, which returned with its very first on-ground edition after a space of 3 years, begun with a star-studded opening event on October 27 at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The South Asia Competition awards existed on Saturday night by the jury, headed by director Mira Nair. Other members were Australian author and filmmaker David Michod, Filipino filmmaker and star Isabel Sandoval, and Edouard Waintrop, French movie critic and celebration director. The jury granted the Golden Gateway award to “Against the Tide”, the Silver Gateway award to “Bahadur – The Brave” and the Special Jury Award to “Agra”, helmed by Kanu Behl. The movie critics guild gender level of sensitivity award, commemorating a function that challenges gender stereotypes and standards, was offered to “Barir Naam Shahana” (‘A House Named Shahana’) by Leesa Gazi. The jury, including movie critic Aditya Shrikrishna and RJ Stutee Ghosh, provided the award. Shahrukhkhan Chavada’s “Kayo Kayo Colour?” (Which Colour) won an award under the Rashid Irani young critics laboratory unique program produced by MAMI to support young authors within the world of movie theater. The honour existed by Christian Jeune, director of the movie department, deputy basic delegate, Festival de Cannes. This year at the celebration, the worldwide media business Civic Studios signed up with hands with Jio MAMI to develop a brand-new classification of award, the Light Camera Impact Award. This award identified 2 non-feature movies concentrating on topics of environment, sexuality, and caste.
