MINNEAPOLIS (AP)– The state of Minnesota filed a human rights complaint Tuesday against the Minneapolis Police Department in the death of George Floyd by a Minneapolis law enforcement officer who pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for numerous minutes, even after he stopped moving.
Gov. Tim Walz and the Minnesota Department of Person Rights revealed the filing at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
Our Minnesota Department of Human being Rights today filed a civil rights charge against the MPD. @mnhumanrights will investigate the department’s policies, procedures, and practices over the past 10 years to figure out if they took part in systemic discriminatory practices.
