Nasa has actually chosen the business that will establish landers to send astronauts to the Moon’s surface in the 2020 s.

The White House wishes to send the next male and the first woman to the Moon in 2024, to be followed by other objectives.

Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Alabama-based Dynetics were chosen to work on landers under the space company’s Artemis programme.

The 2024 objective will see astronauts stroll on the Moon’s surface area for the first time since 1972.

Integrated, the agreements deserve $967 m (₤763 m; EUR877 m) and will run for a “base period” of 10 months.

” With these contract awards, America is progressing with the final action required to land astronauts on the Moon by 2024, consisting of the amazing minute when we will see the first lady set foot on the lunar surface,” said Nasa’s administrator Jim Bridenstine.

” This is the first time because the Apollo era that Nasa has direct funding for a human landing system, and now we have companies on agreement to do the work for the Artemis programme.”
