William Barr States Feds Are ‘On The Lookout’ For ‘Overbearing’ Coronavirus Restrictions

WASHINGTON– Attorney General William Barr bought federal prosecutors to “watch” for coronavirus– related procedures from states and areas that could infringe upon Americans’ constitutional rights and civil liberties.

In a memo to the head of the Justice Department’s Civil liberty Division in addition to all 93 U.S. attorneys across the nation, Barr showed that the Trump administration may take legal action against state and city governments that impose excessive limitations on people because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

” If a state or regional ordinance crosses the line from a suitable exercise of authority to stop the spread of COVID-19 into an overbearing violation of constitutional and statutory defenses, the Department of Justice might have an obligation to address that overreach in federal court,” Barr wrote.
