NELLORE: Fire broke out in the kitchen automobile of Train No 12655, Navjeevan Express bound for Chennai from Ahmedabad when the train reached Gudur train station in Tirupati district at 2.42 am on Friday. According to Government Railway Police Inspector of Nellore, K. Srinivasa Chari, travelers taking a trip in S2 and S3 coaches observed smoke originating from the kitchen vehicle, which lay in between the 2 compartments, while the train is running in between Manubolu and Gudur and decreasing for a stop at Gudur. The panic stricken travelers pulled the alarm chain at 2.36 am and the train stopped at Gudur by 2.42 am. The fire stemmed from the overheated cooking oil put on the range by an employee/ cook. On reaching optimum temperature level, smoke appeared followed by fire. Travelers broke the windows of the kitchen cars and truck as quickly as the train came to a stop at Gudur and utilized onboard fire extinguishers to postpone the fire. Train authorities signaled the fire department and the fire battling systems managed by the fire by 4 am. The train left at 4.11 am, Siva Chari stated. The train authorities breathed freely as there were no casualties. The train which concerned stop at 2.42 remain in Gudur left at 4.11 am, authorities notified. …
