Judge Ramon Oshodi of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Wednesday confessed Femi Olaleye to N50 million bail with 2 surety. Mr Olaleye, the handling director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, was arraigned in court on Wednesbury over accusations of sexually attacking his other half’s 16- year-old niece. Mr Oshodi, in his judgment, stated the implicated would be remanded in Kiriki jail, Ikoyi, till the bail conditions are satisfied. On Wednesday, Babatunde Ogala, the legal counsel representing the accused, asked the court to confess the offender on bail on the premises that he was all set to go to all the trials for the case. According to Mr Ogala, the offenses levelled versus Mr Olaleye are not “severe accusations like treason” calling for a death sentence. The legal counsel included that the behaviour showed by Mr Olaleye as it associates with his voluntary existence in court reveals that he will abide by the conditions of the court. He stated the accuseds concerned court with “trustworthy and responsible” expert associates prepared to stand as sureties for him if given bail by the court. Mr Babatunde Martins, the state’s counsel, stated the offenses levelled versus the offender are major criminal offenses in Lagos, bring in life jail time.
