A horrific accident took place during the airshow in the US state of Texas. Here in Dallas, 2 war planes of the time of World War II collided in the air. The accident was so gruesome that as soon as the collision occurred, one plane split into two pieces, while the other plane was completely shattered. There is a possibility of death of 6 people including pilot and crew members in the accident.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the World War-2 Commemorative Airshow was organized on Saturday in Dallas, USA. People had come from far and wide to see it. The airshow was going on when suddenly a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber collided head-on with another Bell P-63 Kingcobra fighter.
The accident happened near Dallas Executive Airport. Airport officials said on Twitter that emergency personnel reached the crash site. After the accident, the crew members of the aircraft are being investigated. At the moment it is not clear how many people were on board both the aircraft.
Hank Coates, president and CEO of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), a group dedicated to preserving the World War Two fighter aircraft, explained that the B-17 typically carried a crew of four to five people. Coats said the P-63 had a single pilot, but did not say how many other people were on board at the time of the crash.
Video clips posted on social media show the incident, which was caught on camera by several people, shows two planes colliding and crashing on the ground engulfed in flames. In the live aerial video, the wreckage of the aircraft is visible at the site of the collision. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have opened investigations, with the NTSB initiating and providing updates to authorities.
