President Joe Biden will commemorate Diwali at the White House on Monday night with a big event of Indian Americans from throughout the nation.
The occasion will include a video message from Sunita “Suni” Williams, a recognized NASA astronaut and retired Navy Captain. Williams taped the welcoming from the International Space Station, where she presumed command in September, according to the White House.
“Continuing a custom from previous years, the President will light a Diya light in the Blue Room before his remarks,” the White House stated.
After this he would provide remarks before an event of Indian Americans, for whom he is hosting a reception.
