To ensure fair and transparent elections in the country, the Election Commission has decided to find a permanent and scientific solution of allegations of disturbances in the voter list. The Commission is now rethinking the plan to link Voter ID with Aadhaar. This step is being taken to ensure the identity of those voters who are registered in more than one place as voters.
The Election Commission has prepared a new plan with the central government for this. On Tuesday, an important meeting is going to be held in this matter with the highest officials of the Election Commission, Union Home Secretary, Law Secretary and CEO of UIDAI. In this meeting, issues related to voter ID will be discussed deeply.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has emphasized that this initiative is necessary to correct the name and identity of the same voter. This will help in removing the names of fake voters from the list.
Opposition parties accused fake voters
This meeting is being held at a time when many political parties like Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP and BJD have raised the issue of voters with the same EPIC number. The Commission has admitted that due to the poor alphanumeric series in some states, only the same number were re -released, but it cannot be called a fraud. Now the Commission has taken active steps to find a concrete solution to this issue.

In addition, the Election Commission has instructed the District Election Officers in more than 800 districts to organize more than 5000 meetings with local political parties. The resulting response to these meetings will be presented to the Commission by 31 March.
EC denied the question of linking Aadhaar-Voter ID
In 2023, in response to a PIL in the Supreme Court, the Commission made it clear that the Aadhaar number is not mandatory to add names to the voter list. Now the Commission is working with various stakeholders on this issue and is working on proper legal and technical measures, after which people had to link Aadhaar and PAN, in the same way the Aadhaar and voter ID will have to be linked.
