A grand dinner was organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which a unique confluence of traditional style of Indian food and native aromas was presented. The dinner was entirely based on the Indian ‘thali’ style, incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients, local spices and flavors from different states. The guests were given a taste of the depth of Indian food for which Indian cuisine is famous across the world.
In this special event, every dish was prepared in the traditional way and served in the same style. From soups to desserts, the entire menu reflected the diversity of Indian cuisine. This dinner was not only important in diplomatic terms, but also became a wonderful example of Indian hospitality.

Combination of Indian traditional taste in soup and starter
Dinner started with Murungelai Charu, a light, nutritious and aromatic soup made from drumstick leaves and moong dal. It was garnished with curry leaves seeds to give it the traditional taste of South Indian food. This soup in itself was a great combination of Indian style simplicity and taste.
Three special dishes were served as starter. First, the Gucchi Doon Cheetin, which featured Kashmiri morel mushrooms served with a special walnut chutney. Second, black gram shikampuri, which were pan-fried soft gram kebabs. These were served with mint chutney and sweet Sheermal bread. Third, Vegetable Jhol Momo, which was steamed momos served with water chestnut and spicy tomato dip. It presented a unique blend of Indian and Pahari flavours.
Taste of whole India in one plate in main dishes
A variety of vegetarian dishes were served for the main meal, each dish showcasing the diversity of Indian cuisine. The first was the Zafrani Paneer Roll, in which paneer and dry fruits were prepared like a roll and served in saffron gravy. This dish was very special in both taste and aroma.
After this, Palak Methi Matar Ka Saag was served, which was cooked on low flame and seasoned with mustard seeds. This dish presented the real taste of winter vegetables from Indian homes.
Along with this, tandoori stuffed potatoes were served, which were marinated in curd and spices and grilled in tandoor. At the same time, pickled brinjal gave a taste like traditional pickle with sweet and sour spices. Yellow dal tadka was served as dal, in which desi tadka of asafoetida and cumin seeds was added.

Pulao, Indian rotis and desi sweets made the meal memorable.
Also served was Dry Fruits and Saffron Pulao, which was prepared with Basmati rice, dry fruits and saffron. The rotis included Lachcha Parantha, Magaj Naan, Satnaj Roti, Missi Roti and Biscotti Roti, which reflect the roti culture of different regions.
For dessert, two special dishes were served, which included Almond Halwa, a traditional winter sweet, and Kesar-Pistachio Kulfi, which was enhanced by the aroma of cardamom and pistachios. A presentation of fresh fruits was also made.
Salad, drinks and side dishes enhanced the beauty of the plate.
Gur sandesh and murukku were kept on the table. Fresh juices of pomegranate, orange, carrot and ginger were given as beverages. Whereas, the salad included beetroot, khaman cucumber, sweet potato papdi chaat (with kamarkha), boondi raita, gongura pickle, mango chutney and banana chips.
This dinner became a unique opportunity to present the rich tradition of Indian cuisine to the world and India’s hospitality left an impressive impression on the Russian President. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit to India has been completed. He came to India for the 23rd India-Russia Summit. During this period, 19 agreements were signed between the two countries. A grand dinner was organized in his honor at Rashtrapati Bhavan. After attending this dinner, he left directly for Russia.
