‘ Target’ speeds away, minor damage to shops and workplaces in the area.
Simply after 4 p.m. on March 3, there was a buzz in the city, with numerous distressed citizens glued to television channels running ‘breaking news’ tickers on ‘surges’ in the city.
Soon the tickers got customized to ‘bomb blasts’. It was only an hour later that the very first facts of the case emerged: two youth had hurled bombs (at first referred to as country bombs) on a cars and truck near Kamarajar Arangam; both bombs did not damage the car, however on effect, caused minor damage to the frontage of stores in the area.
The windscreen of an automobile (not the target) was shattered and individuals who were inside display rooms and office complex came hurrying out, even as authorities personnel from the police headquarters nearby reached the area.
2 persons, thought to be minors, were seen in CCTV cam video riding a bike that came down from Anna flyover towards Teynampet.
The pillion rider increased from his seat and tossed an explosive device at a moving automobile on the opposite side of roadway. It arrived at the roadway and instantly thick smoke emerged at the site of the explosion. Again, he tossed another gadget, but this time it glanced off the SUV– a Fortuner. The lorry stopped for a couple of seconds and scampered, taking Mayor Sundar Rao Road, a one-way stretch. The SUV is said to belong to an AIADMK functionary.
