NEW DELHI: Amidst criticism that the railways was charging stranded migrant workers for transporting them house, sources said payments for 34 Shramik Unique trains that have been run so far have actually been made by the state governments, barring Maharashtra.
A controversy erupted on Monday after several opposition celebrations demanded that migrant workers must not be charged for the train tickets. While the Congress used to spend for them, the BJP stated the trains was already providing subsidised tickets bearing 85 percent of the travel expenses.
The trains is yet to release a main statement on the issue, which it, unofficially, said was a “political fight”,
