Quebec provincial police say investigators have reason to believe the sisters were abducted by their father, Martin Carpentier, are intensifying their search for him.

Quebec provincial police have found the bodies of two girls believed to have been abducted by their father, after a three-day search in Saint-Apollinaire, southwest of Quebec City.

Police have lifted the Amber Alert, first issued Wednesday afternoon, and are now intensifying their search for the father, 44-year-old Martin Carpentier.

Earlier Saturday, Sûreté du Québec investigators said they still had hope of finding Carpentier and his two daughters, Norah Carpentier, 11, and six-year-old Romy, after a three-day search.
