The 2nd day of the Bollywood Hungama’s two-day OTT India Fest started with an interesting session entitled ‘The Big ‘C’ word! Censoring, or self-discipline! What’s the requirement of the hour?’. The conversation was enhanced by Sanjay Gupta, Sanya Malhotra, Richa Chadha and Abhishek Banerjee and each of them made intriguing points about why censorship is required or why censorship needs to be eliminated totally.

Sanjay Gupta was the most seasoned individual on the panel and his points raised optimal eyebrows. He started by stating, “Currently, all the most significant law practice in Mumbai have a different department called the ‘Films Division’. When we send the script to the OTT platforms, it is sent out to those guys. They go through it minutely to see what is going to raise objections. CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) comes later on. Before we go on the floorings, we are informed‘yehwordhatado’And you can’t counter them as they would state that they’ll not greenlight it. This is a dreadful time to be producing material.”

He then likewise pointed out a circumstances of a movie that was gone by CBFC and yet, got prohibited in a part of the nation. He exposed, “One of my movies,Shootout At Wadala( 2013 ), had a line when the police captures John Abraham and states‘Har chorValmikinahin banta’That is an extremely generic line. There’s absolutely nothing incorrect about it. I was not conscious that there is a Valmiki neighborhood in the North. They took offense to it though we didn’t mean to upset them.”

Sanjay Gupta continued, “My movie was not permitted to launch. It was removed. We needed to cut the line out of all our prints in Punjab and Haryana. I didn’t wish to do it. I had to as I was losing service. I lost my very first weekend (due to the debate). You never ever understand who’s going to take offense and where. The tolerance level is at an all-time low.”
