Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae is set to reprise his role as a manic killer in Ray, a spin off series from 2020 Korean action-horror film Deliver Us From Evil.
Lee Jung Jae to star in and co-produce Deliver Us From Evil spin-off series Ray
According to Korean media portal Soompi, Ray is based on the story of the villain Ray (Lee Jung Jae), a Korean-Japanese killer who seeks revenge on In Nam (Hwang Jung Min) for killing his brother in Deliver Us from Evil. Ray will portray the birth of this cruel yet captivating villain protagonist as well as the fight against various other villains around the world who become Ray’s targets.
The villains will be establishing a villain universe, which will be expanded into a new series in the future. Per the report, on August 25, Hive Media Corp., the production company behind Deliver Us from Evil, and Artist Studio, the production company behind Hunt and The Silent Sea, have confirmed that Lee Jung Jae will star and co-produce the series Ray (working title), which is a spin-off of Deliver Us from Evil – a smash-hit film released in 2020.
The series is written by Kim Bo Tong and is to be co-directed by Shin Woo Seok and Hong Won Chan, the original director of Deliver Us From Evil. Cinematographer Hong Kyung Pyo will act as director of photography. Pre-production is reported to commence in 2023. No streaming platform attachment has yet been announced.
