At least 6 individuals drowned while immersing idols of Lord Ganesh in Haryana’s Mahendergarh and Sonipat districts. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar revealed sorrow over the event.

Six individuals drowned while immersing idols of Lord Ganesh in Haryana’s Mahendergarh and Sonipat districts on Friday night, according to authorities.

They stated while 4 youths drowned in a canal in Mahendergarh, 2 drowned in the Yamuna river in Sonipat. About the Mahendergarh occurrence, Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar informed press reporters that 4 individuals were brought dead to the medical facility.

Nine youths were swept away by the current of water in the canal in Mahendergarh when the group was bring an almost seven-foot idol for immersion.

The district administration, with the support of the NDRF, released a rescue operation. While 4 passed away, others were saved and hospitalised.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar required to Twitter and stated, “The news of the unfortunate death of many individuals due to drowning throughout Ganpati immersion in Mahendragarh and Sonipat districts is heart-wrenching.”

A variety of Ganesh idols were immersed in rivers, canals and other water bodies on Friday as the 10- day Ganesh celebration concluded.
