DMK hoisted Kazhagam bicolor flag in November
By Pramod Madhav: A high mast flag nearly 85 feet tall was constructed on the platform at Whites Road Junction in Chennai. Recently, the flag was allegedly removed after an activist raised an alarm. Jayram Venkatesan, convener of Arappor Iyakkam took to Twitter to question whether authorities allowed the construction and hoisting of a party flag on a platform of a busy junction.
The mast was placed on a block of strong concrete with the DMK flag atop.
The party flag was hoisted by Education Minister Anbil Mahesh on November 27 to celebrate DMK Youth Wing Head and CM Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi’s birthday.
“Why did you use the platform meant for the people to walk to place a flag to celebrate your leader’s birthday? Is the platform meant for people to walk or to place party flags? How did the Corporation Commissioner, Chennai Police and Chennai Traffic Police allow this?” questioned Jayram.

Reacting to this, Udhayanidhi replied on Twitter that the party functionaries will remove the flag and mast and place them in the area without causing hindrance to the public.
Post this, the party flag was removed from the mast around 11 pm on Saturday night.
