1,000 rejected cops constable, prison warder, firefighters tasks in Tamil Nadu due to fake documents

Close on the heels of the recruitment-for-money scam in the TNPSC, a major scams in the recruitment of police constables, prison warders and firemen by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board has surfaced with a minimum of 1,000 candidates, who had cleared the written examination/physical performance test and qualified for visit under the Sports Quota, found to have actually sent “ineligible” certificates.

The TNUSRB had notified the recruitment of 8,888 Grade-II Police Constables, Grade-II Prison Warders and Firemen late last year.

About 3.25 lakh prospects stood for the written exam in 32 districts. The physical effectiveness test was then kept in 15 centres for 47,000 prospects who passed the evaluation.

Almost 8,800 candidates who received appointment were called for certificate verification. However, throughout this process it was found that at least 1,000 prospects, claiming consultation under the 10%sports quota, had actually submitted “ineligible” certificates.

The associations that provided the sports certificates were not acknowledged by the Sports Advancement Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and for this reason not competent to issue such certificates.
