Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may not have openly mentioned the railway in the budget speech, but in this budget, the Railways have been allocated Rs 2.52 lakh crore. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, describing this allocation and budget as ‘fantastic’, said that this amount is important for Indian Railways. According to the information given by the Railway Ministry, 200 new Vande Bharat Trains, 100 Amrit Bharat Train, 50 Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and 17,500 General Non-AC coaches will be added in the coming two to three years.

The budget of the Railways for the upcoming financial year has been kept as the previous year, in which an allocation of ₹ 2.52 lakh crore has been done. However, ₹ 10,000 crore has been allocated with additional budgetary resources, which will be used to meet and modernize the costs of the railway. This means that the total capital expenditure will be ₹ 2.62 lakh crore.

What did the railway minister say

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Indian Railways is now working towards achieving its goal and by the end of this financial year it will become the second largest freight network to carry 160 million tonnes of goods. He also said that Indian Railways will achieve 100 percent electrification by the financial year 2025-26. At the same time, Indian Railways announced a plan to make 17,500 non-AC general and sleeper coaches for cheap journey.

This initiative is part of the railway budget of 2025, which aims to improve travel experience for low income class passengers.

Amrit Bharat trains mention

Indian Railways has also mentioned Amrit Bharat trains. Which is a new generation non-AC train sets, developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The government has talked about making 100 such trains sets. So that passengers can get cheap journey.

These measures will be taken to reduce accident

Focusing on the safety of passengers, the Indian Railways has planned to make a complete change in LHB (Linke-Hofman-Bus) coaches from ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coaches over the next five years.

Why LHB coach?

1. Better security standards: LHB coaches are designed in such a way that the damage is expected to reduce the damage at the time of the accident.
2. These are more comfortable than traditional ICF coaches. Which contains less shock and noise.
3. The lifeline of LHB coaches is long. They require less maintenance.
