NEW DELHI: India’s daily number of new Covid-19 cases crossed 9,000 for the first time when 9,651 fresh infections were reported on Thursday along with 270 fatalities, the joint-highest death toll from the virus in a single day.
With infections rising steadily, India reported the world’s third highest number of new cases in a single day on Wednesday, when the country’s count of 8,723 cases was higher than Russia’s (8,536). Brazil, which reported 27,312 fresh cases, and the US (20,578) held the first two positions, as per the Worldometers website.
