NEW DELHI: Citizens across the country lit diyas, candles and flashed their mobile and torch lights on Sunday following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for a 9-minute blackout to dispel the “darkness” spread by coronavirus.
As the clock struck 9pm, lights went out in most houses and people gathered in balconies, flashing mobile lights while a few of them lit candles and diyas.
In Chennai, people formed the map of India by lighting earthen lamps, while in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lit earthen lamps to form an ‘Om’ at his residence.
