NEW DELHI: In keeping with the demand for more screening, the Centre has actually chosen to permit certified personal labs to test for Covid-19 Dr Balram Bhargava, director general of Indian Council of Medical Research– the country’s peak body for health research study– validated this to TOI on Monday.
There are 50 to 60 private labs, accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories, that can do the test, Bhargava stated.
At present, only federal government laboratories are allowed to do the test. Though their capability is around 5,000 samples daily, only 60 to 70 samples are being processed daily. This is because existing standards enable evaluating just for symptomatic people with travel history to afflicted nations or those in direct contact with an infected person.
