Army proposes 3-year stint for civilians

In a very first of its kind proposition. the Army prepares to take civilians on a three- year ‘Tour of Task’ (ToD) or ‘three-year brief service’ on a trial basis to serve in the force as both officers and other ranks initially for a minimal number of jobs and after that expanded later.

This is anticipated to result in substantial reduction in pay and pensions and free up funds for the Army’s modernisation.

” The proposal is under consideration. If authorized, it will be voluntary and there will be no dilution of requirements in choice,” Army sources stated.

The total purpose of the ToD idea is ‘internship/temporary experience’ therefore there will be no requirement of attractive severance bundles, resettlement courses, expert encashment training leave, ex-Servicemen status, ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Plan (ECHS) for the ToD officers and other ranks.
