Avalanche warning in four districts of Uttarakhand, alert for next 24 hours

An avalanche alert has been issued for four districts in Uttarakhand. Here in Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, there is a possibility of avalanche in areas above 3000 meters in the next 24 hours. The Disaster Management Department has said that continuous monitoring of snowfall is being done. Experts say that there are many reasons for avalanches. Fresh snowfall can also be a reason for this.

After the avalanche alert, the Disaster Management Department has clarified and said- Regular monitoring of snowfall in a particular area is being done by the Defense Geo-informatics Research Establishment (DGRI), Chandigarh. Weather is ensured and daily warnings are issued on the basis of facts. People have been appealed not to spread any kind of rumor or misleading news.

Let us inform that recently there was an avalanche on Kunti, a tributary of Dhauli Ganga river near Malari in Chamoli district. However, there was no news of loss of life or property. In the months of September and October, there were incidents of avalanches in the Chaurabari Glacier in the Kedarnath Valley.

27 climbers died in Uttarkashi

On October 4 in Uttarkashi, the team of climbers who went out to conquer the Draupadi Ka Danda peak got trapped due to an avalanche. 27 climbers were killed in this incident. 2 climbers are missing. Savita Kanswal, a brave mountaineer and trainer from Uttarkashi, also lost her life in this accident. Savita was the trainer of this team. Savita had conquered the world’s highest peak Mount Everest just a few months back. Within 15 days of climbing Everest, Savita made a record by successfully climbing Mount Makalu. With this, Savita became the second woman mountaineer in the country to hoist the tricolor on Mount Lhotse peak.

Fresh snowfall in Uttarakhand

There was fresh snowfall and rain in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand on Monday. Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Department, had told that the Kumaon region has remained dry to a large extent. Garhwal’s Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are all covered with a thick layer of snow, while its low-lying areas received heavy rains. It also includes the landslide affected Joshimath.

Bikram Singh had told that there was snowfall at places with a height of 2,500 meters and above. It rained in the low lying areas. Tuni in Dehradun district received 43.6 mm of rain, Chakrata 40.2 mm, Purola in Uttarkashi 40 mm and Dhanaulti in Tehri district 22 mm.
