Twenty-eight years after the Babri Masjid was destroyed by kar sevaks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday officially release the building and construction of a temple at the area, where Hindus believe Lord Ram was born.
The Supreme Court had last November permitted the building of a Ram temple at the website where the Babri Mosque stood till December 6, 1992.

Mr. Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will be among the five persons on phase at the bhoomi pujan event for which 175 guests, including 135 seers, were welcomed by the Trust entrusted with the building of the temple.

The bhoomipujan event is set up to start at 12: 45 p.m. Two popular Muslim names, Iqbal Ansari, the former litigant in the Babri Mosque case, and Mohammad Shareef, who was awarded the Padma Shri for years of carrying out last rites of unclaimed bodies, have likewise been invited.
