Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat has won the bronze medal in the 57 kg freestyle category in the Paris Olympics. This is his first medal in the Olympics. With this, India’s total medals in the Paris Olympics have become 6. Aman defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 in the bronze medal match. With this, Aman has become the seventh Indian wrestler to win a medal for the country in the Olympics. However, Aman’s journey to win the medal was not easy.

Actually, Aman got injured during the bronze medal match. During the match, blood started oozing out from his nose. Despite this, Aman remained firm on the mat and managed to add another medal to India’s kitty. Aman kept playing with the injury in his nose. He did not even ask the referee for time to rest.

On the other hand, Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz got tired quickly due to Aman’s moves during the match. Later, he took two breaks citing injury. But, nothing worked against Aman and he managed to win the bronze medal match.

The journey has not been easy

Aman’s journey to the Olympics was not easy. 21-year-old Aman hails from Jhajjar in Haryana. When Aman was 10 years old, his mother died of a heart attack. A year later, his father also passed away. His grandfather took care of him and helped him reach wrestling. Later, he considered wrestler Ravi Dahiya as his idol and kept sweating in the arena. The amazing thing was that Aman defeated Tokyo Olympics silver medalist and his idol Ravi Dahiya to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

Aman lost in the semi-finals

Aman Sehrawat had to face a 0-10 defeat at the hands of Japan’s Rei Higuchi in the semi-final match. Aman could not do anything special against the first seeded Japanese wrestler in the semi-final match and the match lasted only 2 minutes and 14 seconds. Rei Higuchi won on the basis of technical superiority.

Aman’s journey in wrestling

Aman won his first national championship title in 2021. Later he managed to win a bronze medal in the Asian Games held in the year 2022. Then Aman won the gold medal in the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championship. Then in January 2024, he won the gold medal in the Zagreb Open Wrestling Tournament.
