The Union federal government is preparing to transfer workplaces of different Ministries to brand-new structures proposed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) on Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Africa Opportunity while the existing structures along the Central Vista are set to be destroyed as a part of the redevelopment project. While they do not say what the ‘steel structures’ would be utilized for, sources privy to the approval process stated the CPWD prepared to relocate government workplaces from the existing structures, like Shastri Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan etc, which are proposed to be destroyed to make method for modern buildings.
