The main government may, however, advise state authorities to continue with strict curbs in COVID-19 containment zones in the worst-affected 30 local areas that account for 80%of the positive cases in the nation.

These 30 community areas are from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Odisha.

“There is every possibility that the Centre will have really restricted role with regards to enforcing restrictions or offering relaxations from June 1. The states and UTs will take decisions on such problems depending on the scenario locally,” a senior federal government authorities told PTI.

The main federal government might continue with the suspension on operation of worldwide flights and political gatherings as well as closure of shopping centers and cinema halls, besides ordering mandatory using of face mask by individuals in public locations and upkeep of social distancing norms everywhere.

On reopening of schools or rebooting metro train services, the States might be permitted to take a call.
