NEW DELHI: On a day when a third coronavirus case was confirmed in Kerala, five of the evacuees brought back from Wuhan in China and kept at a quarantine centre in Manesar were shifted to Army’s Base Hospital in Delhi after they showed symptoms of cough and cold.
Officials said the five were taken to hospital as a precaution since the coronavirus infection was yet to be confirmed in any of them. “The samples of all five were sent for various tests to AIIMS. We have received the test result of one person and it is negative. The results of the other four are awaited,” they said.
In Kerala, after a third confirmed coronavirus case on Monday, the government declared the outbreak a “statespecific disaster”. The tag will help government allocate more funds for preventing spread of the disease, while police will get additional powers to deal with the situation.
