Coronavirus latest updates: ‘Mumbai can see 70,000 cases by May-end’

NEW DELHI: With 1,755 new cases, the country reported the highest single-day surge on Thursday. With this, the number of coronavirus cases in India has jumped to 23,077, a 8.2% rise from the previous day as per the latest reports from states.

The number includes 17,610 active cases, 4,749 cases in which the patient has been cured and 718 deaths due to the novel coronavirus, according to latest report by the ministry of health and family welfare.

Maharashtra was by far the worst-affected state in the country where 778 persons tested positive in the state during the past 24 hours.
