NEW DELHI: The number of coronavirus cases in the country reached 5,734 on Thursday forcing state governments and various city administrations to enforce even stricter measures to enforce the lockdown. Several state governments enforced complete lockdown of hotspots in their states. So far 166 people have died of the virus in the country.

Here is a look at the latest updates on the outbreak of coronavirus from various Indian cities —

Delhi

  • Rapid testing for Covid-19 will be started as soon as the testing kits arrive. Testing will be first done in city’s hotspots: Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain
  • Till now, there are 669 Covid-19 cases, including 426 cases from Markaz, in Delhi: health minister Satyendra Jain
  • A doctor, a member of nursing staff and a sanitation worker at Delhi State Cancer Institute test positive for Covid-19, a total of 21 healthcare workers here have tested positive. The samples of 19 admitted patients also sent for testing. 45 hospital staff home quarantined.
  • Delhi has eight private labs and seven government facilities approved for Covid-19 testing. Together, they have conducted 9,332 tests till date, in which 588 (6%) proved positive and 7,897 (85%) negative. The results of the remaining are awaited.

Mumbai

  • 464 cases registered under section 188 of IPC against violators of lockdown in Mumbai yesterday. 3,634 cases have been registered against violators since March 20. A total of 2,850 people have been arrested and released on bail till yesterday: Mumbai Police
  • BMC orders ban on all vegetable/fruit markets, hawkers and sellers in containment area/buffer zone in Dharavi, during the lockdown period, as a precaution against Covid-19. Pharmacies in the area are allowed to remain open.
  • Public sector lender Bank of Baroda on Thursday said it has rolled out a mobile ATM which will move in various parts of Mumbai to help customers withdraw money in their localities. The mobile ATM will move around various residential colonies of t
