NEW DELHI: India now has total 13,387 coronavirus cases according to the ministry of health and family welfare. Of the total cases 11,201 are active cases, 1,749 people have been cured and there have been 437 deaths.

Here is a look at the latest updates on the outbreak of coronavirus from various Indian cities —

Delhi

  • No case has been reported in the last 15 days from 3 locations in the national capital, including Dilshad Garden. 60 containment zones identified till now, says Satyendar Jain
  • The state government on Thursday shifted more than 1,500 migrant labourers and homeless people, who had been camping on the banks of Yamuna, and provided them with food and shelter.
  • App-based cab aggregator Uber’s services are now available for free for public hospitals like Safdarjung, Sir Ganga Ram and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospitals. These public hospitals will get UberMedic cars to transport frontline health workers across the city as part of the 10 million free rides being offered globally as announced by Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi earlier, the company said.

Mumbai

  • Mumbai added 177 cases, also its third-highest count for a day, taking the total cases in the city to 2,073. In Mumbai, cases have doubled in just six days. On April 13, Maharashtra had 2,334 cases, and on April 10, a month after the first case was reported, Mumbai had 1,008 cases.
  • Covid-19 cases in Dharavi jumped by 26 on Thursday, the congested area’s biggest single-day tally that smashed the calm of three days of single-digit rises. The area also recorded one death, taking the toll to nine. The total number of cases now stands at 86 since the first patient was reported on April 1.
  • Six police officers and 13 constables from Mumbai and Thane have tested positive for coronavirus in the last one week. All 19 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals even as 86 police personnel, who had come in contact with them, have been placed in quarantine.
