NEW DELHI: From Chandigarh to Chennai, cities in India continue to be under lockdown for the fourth consecutive week. Mumbai continued to remain the hub of Covid-19 outbreak along with Ahmedabad which has seen a dramatic rise in the number of new cases in the last few days.

Here is a look at the latest updates on the outbreak of coronavirus from various Indian cities —

Delhi

  • The Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI), which was shut down about a fortnight ago when 27 of its staff members and four patients tested positive for Covid-19, has decided to resume OPD services from Tuesday.
  • Delhi government will start using 42,000 rapid antibody test kits from Monday at various containment zones across the city.
  • At least 35 cases of novel coronavirus were reported on Sunday from Tughlaqabad Extension, which was declared a hotspot by Delhi government on Friday.
  • A total of 79 areas in the national capital have been identified as containment zones.
  • So far, Delhi records 2,003 Covid-19 positive cases and the death toll stands at 45. 38 patients who died suffered from serious ailments; rapid tests are most likely to start from today, says health minister Satyendra Jain.

Mumbai

  • As the number of Covid-19 patients in Mumbai keeps increasing, there is a sharp increase in the number of containment zones as well. From 77 containment zones that were marked out initially before March 30, the number has now climbed to 721.
  • Spike in child porn consumption during the lockdown period shows the huge presence of paedophiles, child rapists and child pornography addicts online. We’re taking urgent steps to tighten stringency to prevent a drastic rise in sexual crimes against children, said Maharashtra home minister.
  • Fuel will not be given to anyone at more than 200 petrol pumps across Mumbai if the customer is not wearing a mask, said Petrol Dealers’ Association president M Venkat Rao on Sunday.
