NEW DELHI: As the country entered the seventh day of lockdown, the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus cases continued to rise. The local administration and state governments have introduced a series of steps to ease people’s suffering and check the outbreak of the virus.

Here is a look at the latest developments on the outbreak of coronavirus from major cities of India —

Mumbai

  • Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar has announced that CM’s and MLA’S salaries will be slashed by 60% and A and B class officers will get 50% salary while C class will get paid 75% salary and D will get full salaries.
  • Five more cases reported in the state, four from Mumbai and one from Pune; total cases in the state rise to 230.
  • In line with the cooperative departments’ directive to housing societies to disallow its members to step out unless it is an emergency, several societies have got their neighbourhood vegetable and grocery vendors to set up shop in their building premises.

Delhi

  • Army Wives Welfare Association prepares 2,500 food packets for migrant labourers. The packets will be handed over to government representatives in Delhi Cantonment on Tuesday.
