On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again prevented a meeting between the protesting junior doctors. On Saturday, both the parties met for a few minutes but this meeting could not be converted into a meeting. The doctors remained adamant on their demand that the meeting be telecast live. This was the second time this week that the meeting could not be held because Mamata Banerjee had expressed her inability to do livestreaming.
Annoyed by the delay in talks with the protesting doctors, Mamata Banerjee told the doctors standing outside her house in the rain, “Today you said that you want to meet me. I agreed and I am waiting. Please do this for me.” Don’t be insulted. Earlier I waited for you for two hours, but you did not come. The Chief Minister told the doctors that if they are not ready to meet, then at least come inside the house and have tea.
The CM said, “All of us – the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Secretary, are waiting for you all. We have given you umbrellas so that you do not get drenched in the rain. We have also made seating arrangements for you.” Please come inside and if you do not want to talk to me then at least have tea,” when the doctor insisted on recording his meeting, the Chief Minister said that there was no such mention in the letter sent today and Said that the matter is in the court. She said, “It was not written in any letter that you wanted live telecast of the meeting. But I assure you that I will record everything and give you a copy of it. I will ensure that the Supreme Court The video will not be released until permission is granted,” he said.

Citing lack of security and space in his house, the Chief Minister said that recording and calling more doctors inside was not possible. “Fifteen people were supposed to come here but 40 people have come. Can anyone’s house accommodate 40 people? Still, I have made all the arrangements for you. I request you to come inside. If you If you don’t want to hold a meeting, then at least have tea,” Mamata Banerjee said.
Earlier in the day, Mamata Banerjee made a surprise visit to the doctors’ protest site at Swasthya Bhawan, West Bengal’s health headquarters in the Salt Lake area, and requested them to return to duty soon. He promised to pay attention to their demands and said this was his “last attempt” to resolve the crisis. She also said that she will not take any action against the doctors and during this also said, “Bengal is not like Uttar Pradesh.”
Regarding this, the protesting doctors were told that, ‘We were called for an official dialogue in Kalighat. When we reached there, we even compromised by demanding that the meeting be telecast live. We said just record the meeting and give us the recording after the meeting is over, but the officials refused to accept it. The Chief Minister came out and requested us to have tea, but the junior doctors said that we will drink tea only when we get justice.
Later we gave up the demand for recording and just asked for the minutes of the meeting, but we were told that it was too late and nothing could be done now. We waited in the rain, but had to return without any solution. All the junior doctors were disappointed. The doctors said, ‘Today’s arrest of Sandeep Ghosh has proved that our demand was right. What Sandeep Ghosh has done is an institutional crime. Many such principals and officers can participate in this. We want everyone involved in this to resign. We will continue to protest until justice is provided. We are here for Abhaya and will continue to demand justice.
