In the early morning of May 3, Venezuela’s Interior Minister Nestor Reverol appeared on tv and declared that security forces had foiled a “maritime intrusion” by “terrorist mercenaries” who came from the Colombian coast. Information emerged not long after. According to the main version, a boat filled with armed guys was preparing to land at the coast of Macuto, north of Caracas. They were surrounded by helicopter gunships and snipers prior to they could reach the coast. In the occurring shoot-out, 8 of them were eliminated and two were captured.

Later in the day, a video emerged online in which Jordan Goudreau, a previous U.S. Special Forces soldier who’s now running a personal security business Silvercorp U.S.A. based in Melbourne, Florida, claimed duty for the raid. He said the ‘mission’ was an ongoing one despite the capture of the boat. Silvercorp published in a tweet on the very same day, tagging U.S. President Donald Trump, that 60 Venezuelans and 2 American ex-soldiers became part of the strike force. The next day, the Venezuelan federal government revealed that residents of another boat were jailed, including 2 American citizens.
