Fake doctor was running hospital, pregnant woman died during treatment

An illegal hospital run by a quack in Gorakhpur has been sealed by the local administration. Actually a pregnant woman had gone there for treatment and she died. The police informed on Sunday that Jholachhap has also been arrested.

The matter came to light when the husband of the deceased filed a case against the hospital manager Ranjit Nishad. According to the complaint, a 30-year-old pregnant woman named Sonavat Devi, a resident of Jainpur area, died on Tuesday at Satyam Hospital in Gulriha area of Gorakhpur. Locals claimed that the illegal hospital was present in a two-storey building and had around 10 beds.

The hospital was registered in the name of another doctor

During investigation, the police found that Nishad had studied only till class 12 and the hospital he ran was registered using doctors’ certificates. The doctors whose papers were being used in this hospital never came there to treat anyone.

Police gave complete information

SSP Gaurav Grover said on Saturday, Satyam Hospital was running illegally for the last several years by the hospital’s manager Ranjit Nishad, who was arrested today. He said, ‘Nishad was giving medical consultation and treatment to patients on prescription pads in the name of legal doctors without any legal degree and was playing with the lives of patients. Due to the negligence of hospital manager Ranjit Nishad, pregnant woman Sonvati Devi died on Tuesday.

‘Employees of health department involved in this forgery’

The police also found that Nishad was earlier running the same hospital with two different names. The SSP said that the hospital was closed both times by the health department for malpractices, but the accused still managed to reopen it with a different name. The role of some employees of the Health Department has also come to the fore in this matter. He said that the police has written a letter to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to take legal and departmental action against him.

The SSP said that the Gangster Act would also be added against the accused and an appeal would be made to the District Magistrate to attach his property. The senior police officer has also written a letter to the CMO that information about registered hospitals, diagnostic centers, pathology centers etc. should be given to people through the media so that illegal institutions can be identified and action can be taken against them.
