According to the complaint, Harshvardhan married actress Chaitra R in the year 2023 with the consent of both the families. However, about 7 to 8 months ago, due to domestic disputes, the relationship between the two deteriorated and they started living separately. After this, Harshvardhan started living in Hassan while Chaitra shifted to a rented house in Magadi Road area of Bengaluru.

The family told the police that despite this, Chaitra continued working in TV serials and films. On December 7, 2025, Chaitra informed her family that she was going to Mysore for shooting. But it has been claimed in the complaint that this shooting was just an excuse, which was planned by Harshvardhan through his friend Kaushik. It is alleged that Kaushik had also given an advance of Rs 20 thousand to Chaitra in the name of shooting.

How did the kidnapping happen?

According to the FIR, Chaitra was called to Mysore Road metro station at around 8 am on December 7. Harshvardhan, Kaushik and another person already present there forced Chaitra into the car and abducted her. After this he was taken via NICE Road and Bidadi. An acquaintance of Chaitra informed her family about this incident.

The family alleges that the same evening, Harshvardhan called Chaitra’s mother and threatened that if the girl was not handed over to him, Chaitra would not be released safely. A similar message was also given to another relative in which it was said that the girl should be brought to Arsikere only then Chaitra would be released.

The complainant said that when the family tried to contact Chaitra, her phone was found switched off. She also said that there was a delay in filing the complaint because she was in Tiptur at that time and after returning from there she went to the police after reaching Bengaluru. Police have registered a case against Harshvardhan, Kaushik and another accused under sections of kidnapping and criminal intimidation. Police say that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and all allegations are being investigated seriously.
