Cristiano Ronaldo Goncalo Ramos: The FIFA World Cup 2022 has now reached its quarter final round. Star player Lionel Messi’s Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal team have also reached in this. Both the players playing their last World Cup would not want to miss out on winning the title this time.
But even before the title match, Ronaldo has suffered a major setback. This blow was given by his own team in the pre-quarter final match. Team boss Fernando Santos did not choose Ronaldo in the starting-11 itself. In his place, 21-year-old Gonsalo Ramos was given a chance.
This happened for the first time with Ramos, when he was placed in the starting-11. Taking advantage of this, he scored a brilliant hat-trick by scoring three goals in this match of the World Cup. On this basis, the Portugal team reached the quarter-finals by defeating Switzerland 6–1.
The great thing is that Ramos made his debut for Portugal only last month. Also, when Ronaldo made his debut in 2003, Ramos was only two years old at that time. After winning the match, the team was celebrating, then Ronaldo went out of the field.
Portugal has made it to the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the third time. The team had earlier managed to reach the last eight in 1966 and 2006 as well. Now Portugal will face Morocco in the quarter-finals on Saturday, which defeated Spain 3-0 in the penalty shoot-out in the pre-quarter-finals.
Ramos has scored 6 goals in his international career so far. Ramos plays for the Benfica club in his country’s Primeira Liga. It was Benfica that shaped Ramos’ career and made him a great player.
Ramos proved himself while playing in this club and has reached the point where Ronaldo was dropped and given a place in the starting-11. Ramos has so far scored 20 goals in 45 appearances for his club at the senior level.
