Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the supposed mastermind of the October 7, 2023, attack that activated the Gaza war, was shot dead together with 2 other terrorists in a firefight in Rafah, in southern Gaza, on Wednesday (October 17).
Israeli leading brass, consisting of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commemorated this killing.
Western leaders likewise hailed the advancement, while prompting Hamas to release its staying Israeli captives.

United States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris: The United States president was taking a trip to Germany as the news broke. “This is a great day for Israel, for the United States, and for the world,” Biden stated in a composed declaration.
